Kandal Meat
Kandal Kjøtt DA is a family business located at the innermost and highest point of Kandal, offering a spectacular view over Breimsvatnet lake. This farm has a long history of goat farming, which forms the basis for the company's products.
They specialize in processing goat and kid meat, maintaining traditional methods such as pure meat production, natural drying in the storehouse, and dry-salting of cured legs of mutton and pinnekjøtt (ribs).
Bjørn and Magni Nygård started Kandal Kjøtt DA, and over the years the company has grown. In 2004, a separate production facility was built to meet increasing demand. Since 2011, their son Paul Nygård, together with his wife Jorun Beate, has led the business. Their daughters Johanne and Taline are also involved, often seen at markets and in-store demonstrations.
Kandal Kjøtt DA emphasizes quality and authenticity. They have received the "Stiftelsen Nors Mat" Speciality Label for Unique Taste for their products, including cured sausage and cured meat of goat. This underscores their commitment to producing unique and flavorful products.
The company processes meat from their own animals as well as from other animals, purchased through Nortura.
Kandal Kjøtt DA represents a proud tradition of Norwegian small-scale production, combined with a modern approach to quality and taste. In 2022, they celebrated 25 years of commitment to this tradition, and their products are an example of the best of Norwegian meat processing.
